What to bring to the Hospital

What to bring to the Hospital:
  • Birth preferences, and Positions etc handouts
  • Slippers/flip flops
  • Bathing suit for birth partner
  • Massage tools
  • MP3 or other music device with head phones
  • One nursing bra and nursing pads
  • Couple sleepers for baby and something to wear home
  • CAR SEAT!!! (with base if applicable)
  • Tooth brush, paste, mouth wash, toiletries… (for mom and supporters)
  • Snacks (particularly for support people during the birth as cafeteria and cafĂ© hours are limited)
  • Camera with useable memory car and batteries (or film)
  • Something dark coloured and comfy for mom to wear in the hospital, and something to wear home (it is easiest to use the hospital gowns for labour and the first day or two after…they do the laundry… but you are also welcome to wear your own)
  • A nursing friendly garment (provided that this is the way you intend to feed baby)
  • List of phone numbers of everyone who needs to be contacted with the big news of baby’s arrival (possibly also a calling card)
  • Cell phone chargers
  • Lip balm for mom
  • Ear plugs
  • Juice boxes or popsicles for mom in labour 
  • Couple cold cans of pop (either to keep supporters awake, or to use as a rolling massage tool on mom’s back)
